msi in raleigh, just in case you have no interest )

and then i risked life and limb to cross some railroad tracks after dropping s. off, since i waited over 5 minutes for a train to come by, and all the cars behind me decided to drive around the barriers to cross the tracks. the lane in the other direction started doing the same thing right after i crossed the tracks. fail estes road!

There is a screen with a purple unicorn/squid creature hiding amps. Mikeyway would like it. Why isn't it on a shirt?

[as I go, remember all the simple things you know]
dex brought me beer and locopops. this is why she is my favorite.

also, she liked my new hat. even if it apparently reminded her of ryan ross, i still love her best.

perhaps i will wear my new hat tomorrow if it isn't 20 million degrees. survey says: too hot for hat, ponytail preferable.

i really should be making better use of my current unemployment by playing the bass. also i need a bass icon. or perhaps an icon of an awesome bassist playing. at least i get to see lyn-z tomorrow night.

there are days where everything is going really pretty well, and then your ipod spits up g.way singing "vampires will never hurt you" followed by john mayer singing "no such thing" and you have to just bop your head along with it and laugh at the fact that this is your life.

[i'm tired of waking up tired]
in reference to my last post - it's funnier if i don't explain it, but i will anyway. my friend m. was telling a story about how he was reading what he thought was an article about a band, and it turned out to be fic. which he didn't realize until there was a handjob. it was very funny. you had to be there.

also, why is it worse to go to work on 5 hours of sleep when you only get that from staying out late, rather than waking up early? maybe i am just getting too damn old for these late nights during the week. but, breakfast of champions is definitely diet coke and vanilla creme cookies, courtesy of the vending machine.

[why does steven smith keep exposing me to trace cyrus? he scares me!]
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[info]makesomelove gave me H.

1. Hands Up - Red Collar
2. Heartbreaker - Pat Benatar
3. Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
4. How Soon Is Now? - The Smiths
5. Hungry Like The Wolf - Duran Duran

This was hard, I had way more favorite H songs than I thought.

[butterflies and conversation]
so, apparently my cute neighbors? the ones across the hall with dogs and guitars and such? are in a band. that plays around here quite often. and how did i find this out, you might be asking? by checking out a myspace address on a bumpersticker on one of their cars. and so, what will be the result of this discovery? going to their next gig in chapel hill, of course! it's on friday the 13th, so this bodes well.

considering how i have been slowly wading into the chapel hill music scene in recent months, this just makes me loooooool.

[she put a little money into travelling]
things of which i am fond, as of 10:45 am EDT:

  • the last.fm beta site

  • the local indie coffee shop which is currently blasting the beatles

  • pete wentz (both for the thought of his impending fatherhood, and his latest meelikey post)

  • chai

  • unemployment (although, not the money worries that accompany it)

  • the jeans that i am wearing, which i have not be able to fit into for many moons

  • questionable content

  • friends who win tickets to shows i want to see and who give me their extra ticket

  • the guy sitting behind min, who's laptop is covered in an awesome cartoon of a robot walking his robot dog

  • sunny days that aren't oppressively hot

  • speculating on ways to run into my cute neighbor again

  • this unintentionally hilarious article from the bbc about emos

[my submission is your addiction]
just for the record: i really like going to chicago and staying with g&n, but i'm not overly fond of visiting folks with dogs, and i inevitably end up coming home from chicago injured. at least this time its only a bruise on my left thumb at the joint. don't ask.

hi! i spent over 4 days in chicago and all i came home with was a suitcase full of dirty laundry that smells vaguely like dog, pictures of some dudes from vegas, pictures of some kick-ass sea creatures, including 3 minutes of video of penguins, and ticket stubs from hct, shedd aquarium, and the new indy flick. oh, and a "save the date" magnet for g&n's wedding, since mine was apparently lost in the mail (this is somewhat important, since i am in their wedding, even though i knew the date already).

since i got home i have slept a lot, slowly caught up on internet happenings, and finally talked a bit with/reintroduced myself to my neighbor who i've only seen twice since he moved in 2 months ago, but he seems nice (he was playing guitar on his balcony and one of his dogs was singing along...in that way that dogs do), and i can always use new (male) friends. i also managed to get texting turned back on on my cellphone (which had been turned off my incompentent customer service people a week ago). i also bought a ticket to see msi in raleigh in june, warped tour tickets for shep, dex and myself (early and late b'day presents for them, respectively) in charlotte in july, and a ticket for the hushies and the cab in greensboro in august. i really hope gas prices drop. or that my next temp job (whenever one appears - hopefully sooner rather than later) pays better than my last one (which actually paid pretty well).

also, i really like the new empires disc. i'm sure y'all have it, but if not, get it at www.weareempires.com. thank you, tom conrad and friends.

"you still play magic the gathering." "yeah, but not as much."
so, while i've been home this week, i have started watching first season o.c. on soapnet (daily at 4!). its kinda silly to do this, since i own season one, but it is kind of amusing this way. i'd forgotten how gay ryan and seth were. and how much i enjoyed them, plus sandy and kirsten and summer and anna and jimmy cooper and julie cooper and everyone else. maybe i will start tivoing it when i go back to work, so i can eventually get around to seeing seasons 3 and 4 (which i only watched bits of). this will also be good for the upcoming dark period when i have to give up my almost daily dose of steven smith, since i can't afford to keep my digital cable when my six-month trial period ends in mid-june. damn you, time warner, for offering me awesome deals for limited times!

i also decided today that instead of being practical and using my stimulus check to pay down my credit card debt, i would buy some new clothes. because i both hate the majority of my wardrobe and i don't really have suitable summer work clothes, even for a business casual environment. especially since i haven't really needed work clothes for about 3 years, so what i still have is what i used to wear in boston and doesn't really fit anymore. as min and i agreed earlier, clothes are really annoying.

i also should have done my laundry this afternoon before it started raining. now it's late and it will probably late again, so i guess i will just have to do it in the morning. i hate not having a washer and dryer.

"do i look like a ditchable prom date to you?"
my comments on the first 20 minutes of supernatural )

in other news, i'm unemployed again. have been since friday. have told the temp agency that 'm not available until after memorial day, since i am going to chicago from next thursday to memorial day. in my past 4 days of officially being off i have been hung out at a coffee shop with dex, gone grocery shopping, done many loads of laundry (and still have more to do), gone to a durham bulls game, caught up on "greek", seen the drive-by truckers, had the hearing in my right ear blown thanks to mike cooley, run the roomba twice (my cat sheds A LOT), run the dishwasher, and spent a lot of time doing as little as possible. but i still have 4 weekdays before i go to chicago to do things like finish my laundry, apply to some real jobs, find another temp agency so i can maybe have shorter times between assignments, and finish cleaning my apartment. here's hoping i don't keep up with my typical, lazy, procrastinating ways.
